Thin Layered Bearings

Thin-walled plain bearings are used in large engines such as combustion engines and reciprocating compressors. They are used as main bearings, connecting rod bearings and camshaft bearings. Due to the small wall thickness of their steel supporting shell special requirements of the manufacturing process are demanded.

Designs variants

Bearing shells (split)
Bearing bush (non split)
With and without collar (single / double sided)

Material combinations

Steel – white metal (babbitt)
Steel – bronze
Steel – bronze – white metal (babbitt)
Steel – bronze – nickel barrier dam – White metal (babbitt) – zinc (galvanizing bearing)

Application

  • Diesel and large engines
  • SKL engine bearings
  • Piston compressors
  • Thin-walled bushes for wind turbines
